Una mirada china sobre el folklore argentino
Acuerdo entre Zhang Yuan y Marbiz

Por primera vez se realizará una coproducción entre la Argentina y China como consecuencia de un acuerdo firmado recientemente en el Festival Internacional de Cannes entre el realizador chino Zhang Yuan y Julio Márbiz, de quien partió la idea de reflejar en una ambiciosa producción todos los ritmos folklóricos y tanguísticos de nuestro país. "El rodaje de este film, que se titulará Argentina folk-tango. Los sonidos del alma -explica Márbiz- comenzará en los próximos meses y servirá para mostrar a China y a otros países del mundo nuestra música autóctona. De acuerdo con el convenio suscripto con Zhang Yuan, la película será estrenada el año próximo.

-¿Cómo comenzó usted su relación con Zhang Yuan?
-Este director chino fue reconocido como uno de los más prominentes de la sexta generación de realizadores de su país. En 1996, y durante mi gestión como director del Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales lo invité a participar en el Festival Internacional de Mar del Plata, que se recuperó en esa época, y allí presentó su película Dong gong xi gong por la que obtuvo el Ombú de Plata al mejor realizador y guión. En esos momentos nació nuestra amistad, que se afianzó durante nuestros viajes, en 1997 y 1998 respectivamente, a los festivales de Venecia y de Cannes. En 1999 lo convoqué para ser jurado del festival marplatense que presidió Catherine Deneuve; fue entonces cuando se mostró muy interesado por la música del folklore y del tango.

-¿El film tendrá un hilo argumental o será una serie de estampas musicales?
-Será un documental ficcionado con un fino hilo argumental, y para ello convoqué a Eugenio Zanetti como asesor cinematográfico y a Antonio Tarragó Ros como autor de la banda sonora. Por el film desfilarán Los Nocheros, el Chaqueño Palavecino, Horacio Guarany, Hugo Marcel, Guillermo Galvé, Cuti, Roberto y Roxana Carabajal Jaime Torres y el conjunto Las Cien Guitarras Mercedinas, entre otros.

-El rodaje de este film es, sin duda, un homenaje a Argentinísima , que este año cumple cuatro décadas en televisión y radio.
-Siempre quise hacer conocer todo lo mágico y pasional del folklore y así nació Argentinísima, una manera de cantarle a la tierra, de amarla con pasión y de entenderla. Muchas canciones que se oirán en el film nacieron en los programas de radio y de televisión de Argentinísima y hallaron cobijo, calor y amor en la gente que las consagró con su aplauso y las guardó en su alma. Poder transportar todo ese bagaje musical a una película realizada por Zhan Yuan, un chino que se consustanció con la emotividad de las canciones y de la música de nuestro país ya colma mis más altas ambiciones. Pero, además, Argentinísima festejará sus cuarenta años desde el jueves 17 de septiembre hasta el domingo 25 de octubre con una serie de espectáculos que, con Nito Artaza, realizaremos en el teatro Broadway, esa misma sala que en 1972 y en 1973 estrenaba, respectivamente, las dos películas Argentinísima que había dirigido Héctor Olivera en colaboración con Fernando Ayala, y que batieron récords de público.

Agreement between Zhang Yuan and Marbiz

For the first time there will be a coproduction between Argentina and China as a consequence of an agreement recently signed at the Cannes International Film Festival between the Chinese Director Zhang Yuan and Julio Marbiz, from whom came up with the idea of reflecting on an ambitious production all the folklore and tango rhythms from our country. “The shooting of this film which title is Argentinisima Folk – Tango, Los Sonidos del Alma – explains Marbiz – will start on the next few months and it will help to show to China and other countries our native music. According to the agreement reached with Zhang Yuan, the movie will be premiered next year.

-How did you start your relationship with Zhang Yuan?
-This Chinese director was recognized as one of the most prominent of the sixt generation filmmakers of his country. On 1996, during my administration as Director of the National Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute I invited him to participate on the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, that was restored during that period, and there he presented his film Dong gong xi gong from which he was awarded with the Silver Ombu for Best Director and Script. During that time our friendship was born, which got stronger on our trips, on 1997 and 1998, to the Venice and Cannes Film Festivals. In 1999 I ask him to be part of the Jury of the Mar del Plata Festival which was preside by Catherine Deneuve; it was then when he first showed interest for folklore and tango music.

-The film will have a plot or it will be a series of musical stamps?
-It will be a fictional documentary with a fine plot, and for that I called Eugenio Zanetti as a cinematographic advisor and Antonio Tarrago Ros to compose the films sound track. The film will be starred by Los Nocheros, Chaqueño Palavecino, Horacio Guarany, Hugo Marcel, Guillermo Galve, Cuti, Roberto y Roxana Carabajal, Jaime Torres and the group Las Cien Guitarras Mercedinas, amongst others.

-The shooting of this film is, without any doubts, a tribute to Argentinisima, that this year is celebrating four decades on television and radio.
-I`ve always wanted to spread all the magic and passion of folklore and that’s how Argentinisima was born, a way to sing to the earth, of loving it with passion and understand her. Many of the songs played in this movie, were conceived on the Argentinísima radio and TV shows, and have been warmly welcomed and loved by the people who have made them classics with their applause and kept them in their souls. To be able to transport this entire musical luggage to a movie directed by Zhang Yuan, a Chinese that embraced the emotive of the songs and the music of our country reaches all of mi highest expectations. But, also, Argentinisima will celebrate its forty years from Thursday September 17 to Sunday October 25 with a series of shows that, along with Nito Artaza, we will present on the Broadway Theatre, the same theatre in which on 1972 and on 1973 premiered the two Argentinisima films that were directed by Hector Olivera along with Fernando Ayala, which had big audience success.

ARGENTINÍSIMA EN CANNES

En el marco del Festival de Cannes, Julio Marbiz firmó un acuerdo con Zhang Yuan, importante director chino para que sea el realizador de la película ARGENTINÍSIMA FOLK TANGO, Los sonidos del alma
El realizador chino Zhang Yuan, ganador en el Festival de Mar del Plata 1996 con su película "Detrás de la ciudad prohibida", será el director de la coproducción argentino-china "ARGENTINISIMA FOLK TANGO", virtual tercera parte de las exitosas "Argentinísimas" (ahora con el agregado del tango), y con la cual su creador Julio Marbiz celebrará las cuatro décadas del nacimiento del ciclo. El acuerdo se firmó en el Festival de Cannes que concluyó el domingo, en donde Marbiz acordó la futura coproducción con Media China Corporation Limited, que respalda los films de Zhang Yuan, director también de "17 años", "Dada", "Pequeñas flores rojas" y "Té verde", entre otros.
"ARGENTINISIMA FOLK TANGO" tendrá asesoría cinematográfica de Eugenio Zanetti y música original de Antonio Tarragó Ros.

During Cannes Film Festival, Julio Marbiz signed an agreement with Zhang Yuan, important Chinese director, to be the filmmaker of the film ARGENTINÍSIMA FOLK TANGO, The sounds of the soul.
The chinese filmmaker Zhang Yuan, whose movie "Behind the Forbidden City" won at the 1996 Mar del Plata Film Festival, will be the director of the argentine-chinese production "ARGENTINISIMA FOLK TANGO", virtual third part of the succesful "Argentinísimas" (at this time with the addition of Tango), and with which Julio Marbiz, its creator, will celebrate the four decades of the birth of Argentinisima. The agreement was signed in the Festival of Cannes that concluded Sunday, where Marbiz agreed the future coproduction with Chinese Average Corporation Limited, that supports the films of Zhang Yuan, director also of "Seventeen Years", "Dada", "Small red flowers" and "Green tea", among others.
"ARGENTINISIMA FOLK TANGO" will have film advising of Eugenio Zanetti and original music of Antonio Tarragó Ros.

BIOGRAFÍA / BIOGRAPHY
Nacido en Jiangsu, China en 1963, Zhang Yuan estudio pintura desdes su niñez. Despues de graduarse de la Academia de Cine de Beijing en 1989, consiguio su propia financiacion y ha dirigido muchos trabajos significativos, incluyendo Mama (1990), que gano el Premio del Jurado en el Festival de los Tres Continentes de Nantes. Beijing Bastards (1992) gano el Premio del Jurado en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Singapur; Sons (1995) gano el Premio Tigre en el Festival Internacional de Rotterdam y Seventeen Years (1999) le dio a Zhang el Premio a Mejor Director en el Festival de Cine de Venecia. Su ultimo film, Little Red Flowers (2006), gano cuatro importantes premios a mejor director en su pais y el extranjero. Zhang ha sido reconocido como uno de los mas prominentes de la Sixta Generacion de Directores Chinos.
La revista Time lo selecciono en 1994 como uno de "cien jovenes lideres mundiales para el siglo 21" y la revista Juventud China lo eligio como uno de los "cien jovenes que influenciaran el proximo siglo". Zhang recibio el Premio de la Paz y la Cultura de las Naciones Unidas y en 2006, el Premio Robert Bresson entregado por el Vaticano.

Born in Jiangsu, China in 1963, Zhang Yuan has studied painting since childhood. After graduating from Beijing Film Academy in 1989, he raised his own funding and has directed many significant works, including Mama (1990), which won the Jury Award at the Nantes Three Continents Festival. Beijing Bastards (1992) won the Jury Award at the Singapore International Film Festival; Sons (1995) won the Tiger Award at International Film Festival Rotterdam and Seventeen Years (1999) brought Zhang the Best Director award at the Venice Film Festival. His latest film, Little Red Flowers (2006), won four major best director awards at home and abroad. Zhang has been recognised as one of the most prominent of China’s Sixth Generation Directors. Time Magazine selected him in 1994 as one of the “one hundred young world leaders for the 21st century” and China Youth Magazine chose him as one of the “one hundred young people influencing the next century.” Zhang received the United Nations Cultural and Peace Prize and in 2006, the Robert Bresson Award given by the Vatican.

En éste tiempo maduro de celebración, vuelvo a escuchar las voces de mis amigos y las melodías que ellos crearon. Y entonces pienso que valió la pena salir a todos los senderos de la provincianía para contarles a mis hermanos que nuestra tierra querida, esta florecida de cantos que hablan del amor, del dolor, de las alegrías del hombre, la mujer y los jóvenes, que diariamente estudian y trabajan, cantando y soñando por un destino mejor.

Many of the songs played in this movie, were conceived on the Argentinísima radio and TV shows, and have been warmly welcomed and loved by the people who have made them classics with their applause and kept them in their souls. In this mature time of celebration, I listen once more to the voices of my friends and the melodies they have created. And so I think that it was worth having travelled across the provinces to tell my brothers that our beloved land is blooming with songs about the love, pain and joy of the men, women and youngsters who study and work every day, singing and dreaming of a better destiny.
